Jamaica News, April 4, 2018 – Heavy Security Detail Posted in August Town
St Andrew, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – A heavy joint military contingency was posted in the August Town area of St Andrew on Wednesday morning, April 4, following a gang flare up and heavy gunfire from armed men in the area.
Our news team has also learnt that the JUTC has withdrew its services from the area until the military has managed to restore some calm to that neighborhood. A number of residents were forced to stay indoors.
One police source has indicated that, as early as 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, several gang members traded bullets with each other. According to the police, it is not the first time they have been forced to deal with gang flare up such as this one, but it would appear that the gang members are now more heavily armed.
The police also stated that they will now be maintaining presence in the area, in a bid to flush out these armed gunmen.
Also, they will be taking several men into custody for questioning in connection with this violent flare up.
