Montego Bay, St. James (McN) – The Anchovy and Freeport Police in Montego Bay, St. James say they are now asking members of the public for assistance in identifying a robber who was shot and killed by a security guard during a robbery in the Unity Hall, Montego Bay area on Monday morning.
The Police also mentioned that unconfirmed reports from persons in the street, are that the slain robber is a popular CD Man who sell CDs around the town of Montego bay on a daily basis.
Reports are that, about 5:30 am on Monday a team of security guards employed to Hawkeye Security company responded to an alarm which was triggered at the Open Bible Church premises at Unity Hall.
Upon reaching the premise the guards were carrying out a search when they were attacked by two armed men. One armed with a handgun and the other with a knife. One of the robbers opened fire at the security guards and the fire was returned. During the shooting one of the robbers was shot, while the other fled the scene and escape in bushes.
The police were summoned and upon arrival the wounded robber was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police also reported that this was not the first time that robbers had broken into the church building and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment. To secure its property the church had then taken the decision to hire a security company.
