Hanover Plumber Charged with Assault and Weapon Possession

The Hanover Police have charged 23-year-old Tyrese Johnson, also known as ‘I Cool’, with assault at common law and possession of a prohibited weapon after an altercation in his community on Saturday, September 7.

Johnson, a plumber from Orange Bay Road, Logwood district in Hanover, is accused of confronting a man at a shop in the area around 7:30 p.m. that evening. According to police reports, Johnson approached the man while armed with a knife, grabbed him by his shirt, and verbally abused him, accusing him in connection with the death of a goat. The tense situation was defused by residents, and Johnson left the scene after making threats against the man.

Later that same evening, as the man was riding his motorcycle towards Green Island, Johnson allegedly confronted him again, this time brandishing a firearm. In an attempt to avoid harm, the man tried to escape but lost control of his motorcycle and fell. Johnson then reportedly chased him with the firearm in hand. Fortunately, local residents intervened, helping the man, after which Johnson fled the scene.

The incident was reported to the police, prompting an investigation. Johnson was arrested and charged on Tuesday, September 10, following an interview conducted in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is yet to be determined as investigations continue.
