Papa Kojak first gained attention under the stage name Pretty Boy Floyd, performing on sound systems before adopting the Kojak persona, inspired by the popular TV detective portrayed by Telly Savalas. His shaved head and signature lollipop became his trademarks, and his debut single “Massacre” was a local hit. He soon became a key figure in the dancehall movement, collaborating with Dennis Brown on hits such as “Ain’t That Loving You.”

Kojak’s contributions to reggae were far-reaching. As part of the duo Kojak and Liza, he released songs like “Hole In De Bucket” and the popular track “Bam Bam,” with his energetic performances cementing his place in Jamaican music history. Papa Kojak continued to make music throughout his career, launching his own label and releasing several albums, including Showcase and Rock Jack Kojak. In 1996, he returned to music with a soul cover album under his real name, showcasing his versatility as an artist.
