Jamaica News, April 13, 2018 – Hanover: Mother-Son Duo Shot up in Bed

Hanover, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – An elderly woman was shot and killed while her son was shot and injured, as gunmen kicked open the door to their home in Hanover on Thursday night, and opened fire on them while in  bed.

The deceased mother has been identified as 58-year-old Barbara Gilpin of New Town District in Lucea while her 20-year-old son is presently at hospital in serious condition.

Reports by the Lucea police are that shortly after 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, Ms Gilpin and her son were asleep in bed at New Town. Minutes later, gunmen kicked open the door to the house and opened fire on the two in their beds.

The gunmen then escaped in the area on foot.  Minutes after the explosions were heard, other residents in the area alerted the police and upon arrival, they found both victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

They were both transported to the Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea where Gilpin was pronounced dead and her son admitted in serious condition.
