Peter Lloyd – The Love Messenger – The Icon

Jamaica News, April 13, 2018 – Peter Lloyd

Montego Bay, Jamaica – Peter Lloyd is a name that is resounding with Jamaicans, as well as, with reggae fans globally and why not. he has only been entertaining us over the last twenty-five years.

For the few of you who don’t know, Peter Lloyd is a well-respected singer and songwriter, who actually got his creative career started as an actor and has garnered an impressive catalogue in film and television appearances, including one of Jamaicans longest running television dramas, Royal Palm Estate, and roles in the US films, Return To Treasure Island, and The Mighty Quinn, with Denzel Washington.

Lloyd has had numerous top 10 hit songs such as the perennial “Wake Dem Up”, “U Magnet” and “Ready 4 Luv”, “Walk Through Fire” and countless other singles including “Pose” with the queen of raw, Lady Saw, “Dancehall Queen”, “Baby Baby (Crazy for you)” and “Perfect Body”, all of which hit the top 5 in all major reggae charts through 1999-2003 and others.  His sophomore album, “Stories from I fathers land” was a dedication to his father and spawned hits such as “Gold Digga,” “Wake Dem Up,” “Oh My Darling,” and “Searching.” Great tracks such as the Paul Lewis produced “Shanty Town”, “Wickedness in High Places,” and the then new age dancehall track “Style and Figure,” plus many more.

Lloyd like many Jamaicans got his start singing in church at the church of the Open Bible, Washington Blvd, Kingston. Between Primary School, Dunrobin High School, and Kingston College, he sang in many festivals, school choirs and later went on to be the lead singer in a reggae band called Natural Mystics.

Something you might not know about Peter is his love for climbing trees “…not the coconut or palms trees tho, those days are gone” joked Lloyd. As The Love Messenger, Peter wants to encourage mediation and yoga; two activities he uses personally along with regular exercise to help calm his mind and stay centered. “I want people to learn to love themselves because self-love is the only way you can love and respect others,” said Peter.

The Veteran performer shows no signs of letting up anytime soon as he drops his new single “WOMAN” off his third full-length studio album (no title as yet) that has been received warmly by his fans worldwide.  The video for “WOMAN” is out now on Youtube and the classic 1980 track from the legendary John Lennon is an exciting indication that this album could be another Peter Lloyd masterpiece.

Catch Peter Lloyd in action on April 15th, 2018, at the Music and Comedy Live being held at Ocean 11 in Ocho Rios. For more information on Peter Lloyd, his music label (Blacklight Records) or upcoming shows and tours dates check out @peterlloydworld on all social media platform.
