A 30-year-old handcart operator from Marlie Hill, Browns Hall, St. Catherine, has been formally charged with gun possession, robbery, and buggery following an alleged attack in New Harbour Village.
Police reports indicate that the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on January 13. According to investigators, the accused met the victim at a fast-food outlet in the area. The victim reportedly agreed to visit the accused’s residence but was instead taken to an abandoned building.
Authorities allege that the suspect brandished a firearm and robbed the victim of an iPhone 16 Pro Max valued at approximately $200,000, car keys, a wallet containing bank and identification cards, and cash totaling $15,000. The police further report that the victim was sexually assaulted during the ordeal.
Law enforcement officials were alerted and, upon arrival, the accused was identified by witnesses. A search conducted at the scene reportedly uncovered a Taurus .38 revolver in the waistband of the suspect, which was subsequently seized.
The accused was taken into custody and later formally charged in relation to the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
