St. Catherine, Jamaica — A 42-year-old hairdresser was shot dead in Shelter Rock, Spanish Town, on Saturday, according to police reports.
The deceased has been identified as Camille Kerr of Jones Pen in Beacon Hill, Spanish Town.
Law enforcement officers say that shortly after 1:00 a.m., residents reported hearing loud explosions near a business establishment in the community. The police were alerted and dispatched to the location to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Kerr lying on the roadway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body. She was transported to the Spanish Town Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the killing. Detectives assigned to the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing their probe into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
