Granville Shooting: JCF Says Child’s Death Under Homicide Probe

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has clarified that four-year-old Romaine Bowman, who died in Granville, St James, on New Year’s Day, was not killed by police.

The JCF said Bowman’s death is under a homicide investigation to determine the exact source of the fatal injury and the weapon involved. “No determination has been made that the child was killed by a police officer’s weapon,” the statement noted.

The force expressed concern over reports linking the boy’s death to police, saying such claims could mislead the public and harm community trust. It also highlighted that Bowman’s mother commended police efforts to save her son.

The JCF urged media to ensure accuracy in reporting.
