Westmoreland – Health authorities in Westmoreland have begun a comprehensive rodent control programme aimed at reducing rat populations and improving public health in several communities.
The initiative targets areas including Negril, Grange Hill, Savanna‑la‑Mar, Petersfield, Whitehouse, Darliston, and Bethel Town. Officials said the programme involves the strategic placement of rodent bait stations, regular monitoring and re-baiting, as well as clean-up operations to address conditions that encourage rodent activity.
Drain cleaning and other environmental management measures will also be undertaken to tackle factors contributing to rodent proliferation. Residents are being asked to cooperate by allowing access to properties and avoiding interference with bait stations during the exercise.
Authorities emphasized that the programme is part of ongoing efforts to protect community health and reduce the risks associated with rodent infestations
