The fan, known only as Shadz Dadz, is seeking to raise US$1,500 (approximately J$235,000) through a GoFundMe campaign titled “Money mi a look a wey yu deh (Vybz Kartel Concert).” The funds are intended to cover the cost of a ticket to what is expected to be Kartel’s first live performance in 14 years.
In her campaign post, Shadz Dadz describes herself as a longtime supporter of Vybz Kartel, expressing her eagerness to witness the artist’s return to the stage. “Just a long time Gaza Girl trying to get her centre stage ticket for Freedom Street!! Remarkably, Shadz Dadz is already close to reaching her goal. At the time of publication, she had amassed US$1300 . Her campaign is gaining momentum as the concert date approaches and anticipation builds among Kartel’s fanbase.
Tickets for the “Freedom Street” concert, which will be held at the National Stadium in Kingston, are set to go on sale on August 31 at 3:00 a.m. The event is expected to draw thousands of fans eager to see the dancehall icon perform live once again.
