Four Prisoners Charged in Connection with Inmate’s Death at Chapelton Lock-Up in Clarendon

Four Prisoners Charged: The police in Clarendon report that four prisoners have been charged in connection with the stabbing death of an inmate at the Chapelton lock-up in Clarendon on Monday, June 3.

The accused have been identified as 33-year-old Rushane Williams of Sweeny district, 30-year-old Phillip Russell, a farmer of Trouth Hall district, 23-year-old Marlo Headly of Palmers Cross in May Pen, and 19-year-old Garrett Lindsay of Rhoden Hall, all in Clarendon.

The men have been charged with the murder of 33-year-old Rekema Bravo, a farmer also from Clarendon, who was stabbed to death after being arrested on Saturday afternoon.

Reports indicate that shortly after 3:15 a.m., a cell guard on duty at the station lock-up heard loud sounds coming from the direction of the cell block and went to investigate.

Upon checking the cell, the guard discovered Bravo lying in a pool of blood with two stab wounds to his upper body and two makeshift knives lying beside his body.

Bravo was rushed to May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation revealed that the deceased had been involved in an argument with the four inmates and was stabbed during the dispute.
