The police in Clarendon have released the identity of the inmate who was stabbed to death at the Chapelton lock-up in Clarendon on Monday morning.
He has been identified as 33-year-old Rekema Bravo, who was arrested on Saturday afternoon.
Reports indicate that shortly after 3:00 am, a cell guard on duty at the station lock-up heard loud sounds coming from the direction of the cell block and went to investigate.
Upon visiting the cell, they discovered Bravo lying in a pool of blood with two stab wounds to his upper body and two makeshift knives lying beside his body.
He was rushed to the May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation revealed that the deceased had been involved in an argument with other inmates and was stabbed during the dispute.
Following the incident, Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake ordered an immediate probe into the matter.
