Jamaica Crime News, St James: Four persons which include a female, were taken into custody in connection with the seizure of an M-16 assault rifle, a handgun and several leads sheets, in the community of Salt Spring on Thursday.
The police have reported that the identities of the four accused cannot be released at this time.
Reports by the Montego Hills police are that between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, a joint military operation was carried out at a section of Salt Spring, known as Phelman Corner.
During the operation, two houses occupied by the four accused were searched and the M-16 assault rifle fitted with a magazine containing thirteen 5.56 rounds and a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with thirteen live 9mm rounds were seized.
A further search of the premises resulted in the seizure of several dozen lead sheets and a handwritten book containing personal information of persons residing overseas.

The four accused are expected to be questioned in the presence of their lawyers this weekend, followed by which it will determine if criminal charges should be laid against them.
