Jamaica is mourning the loss of former government minister and senator Leslie Campbell, who died in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Reports indicate that Campbell had been undergoing treatment for cancer prior to his passing.
Throughout his political career, Campbell held several key roles in government. He served as State Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and represented North East St. Catherine as a Member of Parliament. He also functioned as Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.
In addition to his work in public office, Campbell played an important role within the ruling Jamaica Labour Party, where he served as deputy treasurer.
His death marks the end of a longstanding career in Jamaican politics and public service.
