Residents in the Farm district of Manchester, Jamaica are reeling after a deadly home invasion claimed the lives of two individuals in the early hours of Saturday.
The victims have been identified by relatives as bar operators Kaydene Isaacs and Rohan Bernard, also known as “Rocky.”
According to preliminary reports from the police, the incident unfolded around 2:00 a.m. when four armed men, their faces covered, forced entry into a residence by breaching a protective grille. The intruders, reportedly armed with a rifle and handguns, confronted a woman inside the house in the presence of her two young children, demanding valuables.
Investigators say the gunmen then moved to another section of the dwelling where Isaacs and Bernard were located in a bedroom. The couple is believed to have secured themselves inside the room as the situation escalated. During this time, the attackers reportedly instructed the woman and her children to leave the premises.
Moments later, multiple explosions were heard coming from within the house. When the area was checked, Isaacs and Bernard were discovered with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement officers later processed the crime scene as relatives, friends, and community members gathered nearby. The bodies were subsequently transported to the morgue.
A relative of Isaacs, Kady-Ann Smith, described the deceased as dedicated individuals focused on their livelihoods.
“She was a quiet, hardworking person,” Smith said. “Both of them kept to themselves, working and taking care of their business.”
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
