St Andrew, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Tension filled the Home Circuit Court on Tuesday as a government forensic analyst revealed blood evidence and signs of injury inside the apartment of Constable Noel Maitland, who is standing trial for the murder of his girlfriend.
The witness told the court that during a visit to the Chelsea Manor apartment on July 21, 2022, she observed a bloodstained entrance mat, two kitchen knives hidden in a flower pot, and blood on the living/dining room curtains. Two bloodstained shoes — a Crocs slipper and a Puma sneaker — were also found inside the apartment.
The analyst said her observations suggested that someone had been injured inside the apartment. She also noted a broken swing bar lock on the living room door, an empty kitchen bin, and a black suitcase containing women’s clothing, including two panties and a size six dress, with a baby carrier placed on top.
Other items of interest included a brown leatherette couch, an air freshener plugged into the wall, and a multicoloured mat hanging over the balcony railing. Swabs and samples were collected for further testing, and investigators were directed to secure all evidence deemed important to the case.
Constable Maitland is on trial for the July 13, 2022 murder of 24-year-old Donna-Lee Donaldson, as well as preventing the lawful burial of a corpse.
