Five Shot, 1 Dead in Westmoreland

Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: A 56-year-old taxi operator, was shot to death by a lone gunman who opened fire on a group of people, along Great Georges Street in Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland on Monday, April 1. Four other persons were injured during the shooting.

The deceased has been identified as, Anthony Tomlinson, otherwise called ‘Fowler’, of Burnt Savanna district in  Westmoreland

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 5:05 p.m., an armed man allegedly opened fire into a crowd that was on the roadway. Following the shooting, five persons were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

The police were summoned and upon their arrival, the injured persons were taken to the Savanna-La-Mar where Tomlinson was pronounced dead. The other victims were admitted in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
