ST. THOMAS, Jamaica – Five men were taken into custody following the seizure of approximately 1,800 pounds of ganja during a joint operation conducted by the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard and the police’s Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNIID) in St. Thomas.
The operation unfolded at the Bowden Wharf in Port Morant at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 19.
Reports indicate that the Coast Guard intercepted a fishing vessel carrying five individuals. A subsequent search of the vessel led to the discovery of a substantial quantity of ganja.
The five men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of violating the Dangerous Drugs Act and are currently in police custody.
