SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland – A 57-year-old Burmese-born doctor, Dr. Aung Naing, was found murdered at his home in Savanna-la-Mar on Sunday afternoon.
Dr. Naing, a well-respected member of the medical community, had been residing in Jamaica since 1997. He was reportedly living alone at the time of the incident.
According to reports, concerned neighbors alerted the police after not seeing Dr. Naing for several days. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers made the grim discovery of the doctor deceased inside his residence.
Dr. Naing, who immigrated to Jamaica from Burma, began his medical career as an intern at the Kingston Public Hospital. He subsequently served at both the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital and the Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea, Hanover.
At the time of his death, Dr. Naing was actively engaged in private medical practice within the Savanna-la-Mar community.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Dr. Naing’s murder. Initial investigations have revealed no signs of forced entry into his residence.
