Proceedings in the St James Parish Court last Wednesday ended with the release of Nolies Bullock after critical evidence was found to be missing from the prosecution’s case.
Bullock had been before the court in connection with the killing of his 33-year-old son, Shimron Bullock, following a reported dispute on September 29, 2025, in Granville, St James. The incident allegedly stemmed from an argument over a house key that escalated into violence, resulting in the son’s death from machete injuries.
However, the matter did not proceed to a full trial. Instead, attention shifted to procedural shortcomings that significantly weakened the prosecution’s position.
During the hearing, defence attorney Chumu Paris challenged the integrity of the documents presented by the prosecution. He pointed out that the committal bundle served to the defence was incomplete and failed to meet the required legal standard.
Central to the issue was the absence of the defendant’s alleged confession statement from the file. The court was informed that this omission undermined the prosecution’s ability to establish that a murder had occurred.
Paris argued that without sufficient evidence, the case could not be sustained. With no adequate material before the court, the proceedings were halted.
The court subsequently dismissed the matter for want of prosecution, and Bullock was formally discharged.
