Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Family Refutes Police Fatal Shooting: The family of a man who was fatally shot after allegedly engaging the police in a shootout in Flankers community, Montego Bay on Wednesday morning, are now saying that he was killed in cold blood.
The family says that Jamari Harrison, otherwise called ” Rizzla ” 22-year-old laborer of New Road, off Pelle Drive in Flankers, was at home with his female companion when the policemen kicked open the door and ordered the female outside.
They further stated that despite a plea from Harrison asking the officers not to shoot him, he was ordered to kneel down and then shot in cold blood.
Meanwhile, the police are still sticking to their side of the story. The lawmen stated that about 5:00 am on Wednesday, a team of officers armed with a warrant went to a house in Flankers in search of illegal weapons and armed men.
They further stated that upon entering a yard, they identified themselves and Harrison opened fire at them and ran.
He was chased and the fire was returned, during this time, Harrison was shot.
The lawmen indicated that a shotgun was recovered from the wounded man and he was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A team attached to INDECOM are now carrying out investigations into this latest shooting.
