FaceTime Terror: Father Sentenced for Killing Daughter During Video Call

Harris County, Texas — Deontray Flanagan, 41, was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Friday after being found guilty of the brutal murder of his 2-year-old daughter, Zevaya Flanagan. The tragic events unfolded in March 2023, following a 30-mile police chase and a tense SWAT standoff.

Flanagan reportedly picked up Zevaya from daycare before confronting her mother, Kairsten Watson, at her workplace—a Walmart in Harris County. According to authorities, Flanagan assaulted Watson, took her phone, and fled the scene with their daughter.

A police chase ensued, during which Flanagan used FaceTime to call Watson and her mother, who also worked at Walmart. Watson recounted the harrowing moment she witnessed Flanagan choking Zevaya on the video call.
