Traffic flow along the Sheffield main road in Westmoreland was restricted to a single lane on Wednesday night after a motor vehicle crash caused disruption in the area.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred about 8:45 p.m., involving a Honda Fit and a Toyota Axio. Residents living nearby said the impact was sudden and alarming, describing the sound as a loud crash followed by what appeared to be metal scraping along the roadway.
According to information gathered, the Honda Fit was traveling in the direction of Negril at the time of the collision. The driver, said to be an elderly man, sustained injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.
Details regarding the condition of the driver of the Toyota Axio have not been confirmed.
Emergency personnel, including police officers and firefighters, responded promptly and managed the scene as investigations continue.
