The Barnett Street police in Montego Bay, St James, are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of an elderly man, who was shot and killed in Montego Bay, on Sunday morning, June 11.
The identity of the deceased has been given so far only as Tony Allen, of New Road in Cambridge, St James.
Reports are that about 3:00am, men armed with high-powered weapons went to a yard along Deans Lane in downtown Montego Bay, where Allen resided with family members.
The men opened fire hitting him multiple times and set him ablaze, before escaping in a Toyota Voxy bus and a Mark X motor car.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, Allen was discovered lying face down in a pool of blood inside the yard, with multiple gunshot wound all over his body.
The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue for post mortem examination.
Over 80 persons have been murdered throughout the parish of St James since the start of the year.
