Westmoreland, Jamaica — A cloud of grief hangs over the quiet community of Dundee, Breadnut Hill in Darliston, after the lifeless body of a well-known farmer was discovered hanging from a mango tree early Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 68-year-old Cyril Robinson, a long-time resident and farmer of the area.
Reports are that around 8:00 a.m., shocked passers-by stumbled upon the harrowing scene and quickly raised an alarm. The police were summoned and, upon arrival, found Robinson’s body suspended by a length of rope from a mango tree in his yard.
Investigators from the Savanna-la-Mar Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are probing the tragic discovery. Lawmen have since indicated that the incident is being treated as a suspected case of suicide.
The scene was processed by forensic teams, and the body was removed to the morgue, where a post-mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
Residents have been left in disbelief, describing Robinson as a quiet, hard-working man. The investigation is ongoing.
