St. Andrew, Jamaica – The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has confirmed that a ninth inmate has escaped from the Constant Spring Police lock-up, bringing the total number of escapees still on the run to eight.
The latest escapee has been identified as 25-year-old Kemal Kelly, of Mannings Hill district, St. Andrew. He was in custody facing charges of assault at common law and using a firearm to commit a scheduled offence.
Initial reports from police indicated that eight men had escaped the facility, with one being recaptured shortly after the incident was discovered during a routine cell check.
Escapees Still at Large:
- Richard Bishop, 19, of Olympic Way, St. Andrew – Charged with burglary and larceny
- Talik Chambers, 23, of Burlington Avenue, St. Andrew – Charged with identity theft
- Brandon Ennis, 26, of Belvedere, Red Hills, St. Andrew – Charged with possession of prohibited weapon
- Junior Anthony Barnes, 26, of Iron River, Stony Hill, St. Andrew – Charged with possession of weapon and ammunition
- Donque Douglas, 25, of Oxford Street, Kingston – Charge unknown
- Alonzo Espute, 19, of Cassava Piece, St. Andrew – Charged with murder (stabbing)
- Fray Mesias, 18, of Pinto, Stony Hill, St. Andrew – Charged with rape
- Kemal Kelly, 25, of Mannings Hill district, St. Andrew – Charged with assault and firearm-related offence
The JCF is reminding members of the public that it is a criminal offence to harbour or assist a fugitive. Anyone caught doing so will be prosecuted.
A manhunt remains active, and citizens with information on the whereabouts of any of the escapees are urged to call 119 or contact the nearest police station immediately.
