Eight individuals are facing charges following a targeted police operation in sections of Hanover on Monday that resulted in the seizure of an illegal firearm.
According to the Hanover Police Division, officers recovered a Kanuni S pistol during coordinated activities carried out in Green Island and Lucea. The weapon, found at a residence in Cave Valley, Green Island, was fitted with a magazine containing a single 9mm round of ammunition.
Investigators reported that all eight occupants of the premises are expected to be jointly charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
The operation formed part of an ongoing crime suppression initiative across the parish. It was spearheaded by Divisional Commanding Officer Superintendent Andrew Nish and Operations Officer Deputy Superintendent Dean Watson.
Law enforcement personnel involved in the exercise included members of the Special Operations Unit, the Area Fugitive Apprehension Team, the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, along with additional supporting units.
Police say the coordinated effort underscores their continued focus on disrupting illegal weapons and strengthening public safety measures within the division.
