A 23-year-old student-athlete from Jamaica has died following a stabbing incident in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Kevaughn Goldson, a Kingston native and track and field athlete at Lincoln University, was found with multiple stab wounds after police responded to a reported domestic disturbance early Tuesday morning. Officers with the Jefferson City Police Department arrived at the residence and discovered Goldson suffering from injuries to his chest and back.
He was transported to University Hospital for emergency treatment but later succumbed to his injuries during surgery.
Authorities arrested 27-year-old Denita Atiyah Jackson in connection with the incident. Investigators say Jackson told detectives that she and Goldson had been involved in a troubled relationship and that the fatal stabbing occurred during a confrontation.
Jackson has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. The investigation remains ongoing.
