Kingston, Jamaica – JLP General Secretary Dr. Horace Chang is pointing fingers at what he describes as “elements in the PNP” following bomb threats sent to public institutions on Friday morning.
In a statement, Dr. Chang said the threats appear aimed at disrupting the vote of security personnel, which is currently underway at polling locations across the country. More than 12,000 police officers and 5,000 military personnel are eligible to cast their ballots in today’s special voting for the general election.
“It seems certain elements within the PNP have adopted mischievous and disruptive actions in an attempt to interfere with the process,” Chang said, urging those responsible to desist immediately.
He stressed the importance of ensuring that the voting process proceeds unhindered, noting that security forces should not be distracted by such threats.
Dr. Chang concluded by affirming that these actions will not disrupt the JLP’s campaign, which he says is grounded in the party’s track record and a commitment to delivering results for the people of Jamaica.
