Kingston, Jamaica – Authorities are responding to a security threat targeting multiple government agencies this Friday morning, law enforcement sources have confirmed.
The warning was communicated via an email to the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA). While no specific agencies were singled out and no motive was provided, the New Kingston office of the National Housing Trust (NHT) was evacuated as a precaution. Employees gathered at Emancipation Park while authorities assessed the situation.
Police vehicles were stationed outside PICA’s Half-Way Tree offices in St. Andrew, as security forces took measures to protect staff and operations.
The threats come on the same day that security personnel and election day workers are casting their ballots ahead of next Wednesday’s General Election.
Authorities have urged calm and said investigations are ongoing, with more details expected as the situation develops.
