Dr. Andrew Wheatley Stripped Of Minister Of Energy Portfolio

Jamaica News: The Government of Jamaica has made it public that effective Wednesday July 4th, Dr. Andrew Wheatley, the current Minister of Science, Energy and Technology, will be stripped of his portfolio as Energy Minister.

A release from the Office of the Prime Minister on Monday has indicated that the energy portfolio which is currently held by Dr. Wheatley will be transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister.

In the meanwhile members of the Opposition, People’s National Party, are calling for the head of the Energy Minister and demanded that he should be stripped of all his portfolios and fired from the cabinet.

This flare up is arising from the May 23rd saga where Opposition spokesman on Energy, Julian Robinson, raised an alarm of issues and alleged embezzlement taking place at the Government owned refinery Petro Jam.

Since then controversy has surrounded the Minister and his activities in the portfolio.
