St James, Jamaica – A man who once appeared on the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Wanted Wednesday campaign was among two people fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police in Rose Heights, St James, on Tuesday afternoon.
He has been identified as 19-year-old Dantae Ennever, otherwise called “Dangles”, of Gold Avenue, Rose Heights. The other deceased is 38-year-old Jermaine Nesbeth.
Reports are that at approximately 1:30 p.m., lawmen engaged both men in a confrontation in the volatile Rose Heights community. During the incident, the police say two firearms were seized.
Ennever had previously been listed as a person of interest in relation to an aggravated assault and wounding with intent case committed in January along Gold Avenue Main Road. He was later charged on April 14, appeared in the St James Parish Court on April 30, and was released on bail. However, the case was eventually dismissed after the complainant declined to proceed, reportedly out of fear.
Police investigators say they are continuing their probe into Tuesday’s double fatal shooting, while the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has also launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.
