NEW YORK, USA (McKoy’s News) — Sean “Diddy” Combs just got shut down in court again, as a federal judge in New York refused to grant him bail, leaving the music mogul locked up and waiting for his October 3 sentencing.
Judge Arun Subramanian ruled Monday that Combs must remain incarcerated, saying there are “no exceptional reasons” to set him free — especially after reviewing disturbing 2016 hotel footage showing Combs kicking and dragging Cassie Ventura, his then-girlfriend.
“He is a danger to the community and a flight risk,” the judge ruled.
Diddy, who was convicted of transportation to engage in prostitution, faces mandatory prison time. His legal team tried to paint the case as consensual adult behavior, claiming male escorts were involved in a swingers lifestyle, not trafficked or coerced.
But the court wasn’t having it.
“That might fly in another case,” Subramanian said. “But this case has violence, coercion, and subjugation – the record shows all three.”
The prosecution argued that Combs beat, manipulated, and threatened women — including Cassie and another victim known only as “Jane” — as part of a dark and abusive pattern masked by luxury and celebrity.
Even “Victim 3” appeared to back Diddy’s bail request, but the judge remained unmoved.
Prison Complaints Ignored
Combs also tried to argue for release based on “inhumane” conditions inside Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where he’s been held for 11 months. He cited an incident where a fellow inmate allegedly threatened his safety.
But the court shot back, saying prison staff had successfully protected him and no release was warranted.
Trial Recap
Following an eight-week federal trial, Diddy was found guilty on two prostitution-related charges, but was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. Still, the judge emphasized that graphic hotel surveillance footage from 2016 played a key role in denying bail.
“The violence was starkly depicted,” Subramanian wrote. “That cannot be ignored.”
