Jamaica’s Under-17 Reggae Boyz delivered a ruthless attacking display on Wednesday, hammering the Cayman Islands 10-1 in their second game of the Concacaf Men’s U17 Qualifiers at the Estadio Nacional in Nicaragua.
The emphatic victory propelled Jamaica to the top of Group H, ahead of El Salvador on goal difference, setting up a crucial showdown between the two teams for group supremacy and an automatic berth at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
From the opening whistle, Jamaica pressed aggressively, overwhelming the Caymanian defense with wave after wave of attacks. Their breakthrough came in the 10th minute when Jaquan Brown rose highest to power home a bullet header from a Dario White corner.
White continued to cause problems down the flank and won a penalty in the 25th minute, which Cadriano Marsh confidently converted to double Jamaica’s lead.
Defender Zienodean Mclean added a third in the 36th minute from a well-executed set-piece routine. Just four minutes later, Seymour Reid dazzled the crowd with an individual effort, dribbling past four defenders before smashing the ball home. Reid struck again in the 43rd minute, finishing off a well-worked team move to make it 5-0 at halftime.
Jamaica continued their scoring rampage after the break, with Owen Jumpp finding the back of the net from the edge of the box.
The onslaught continued in the 62nd minute when Jahmarie Nolan latched onto a defense-splitting pass from Reid to score Jamaica’s seventh goal.
Brown returned in the 67th minute to secure his brace, capitalizing on a defensive error to slot home into an empty net. Second-half substitute Orel Miller added Jamaica’s ninth in the 73rd minute, before Nolan completed his brace to make it a staggering 10-0.
The Cayman Islands managed a consolation goal in the 82nd minute when Jagger Alban converted from the penalty spot.
With the massive victory, Jamaica leads Group H with six points and a goal difference of +11, just ahead of El Salvador, who defeated St Lucia 2-0 in the late game to also reach six points but with a goal difference of +10.
Jamaica will face El Salvador on Saturday, where a draw will be enough to secure qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup set for November 2025.
