Jamaica Crime News, St Andrew: The Constant Spring police say they have now taken one man into custody for questioning, in connection with an attempted murder on the life of Dancehall artist Mavado in the community of Cassava Piece in St Andrew on Saturday morning, June 2, 2018.
Mavado whose real name is David Brooks, was almost killed in Cassava Piece when his motor car was sprayed with bullets allegedly by a man with whom he had just had an altercation towards his son.
A police source told our news team that on Friday afternoon, the entertainer’s son and the man who is now in police custody got involved in a dispute.
Mavado reportedly learnt of the incident and shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, he went to the community of Cassava Piece in search of the man. It is further stated that he caught up with the man and slapped him to his face.
The accused man ran from the location and immediately came back with a handgun. On seeing that the man was armed, Mavado attempted to drive away, at what time the accused sprayed the entertainer’s car with bullets.
He barely managed to escape with his life and he immediately drove to the Constant Spring police station and filed a report.
The police stated that an investigation was carried out and the accused taken into custody.
