A domestic dispute in Bull Bay, St Andrew, turned deadly Friday night, leaving a woman and her partner dead in what police have described as a murder-suicide.
The incident occurred at Stable Park in Cane River shortly before midnight and has left the couple’s four young children without parents.
The deceased have been identified as Kadane Blackstock, 25, a cashier, and Rohan Edwards, 50, both residents of the community.
According to police reports, residents heard screams coming from the couple’s home about 11:30 pm and called the authorities.
When officers arrived, they found the children inside the house and discovered Blackstock’s body at the rear of the premises, lying in a pool of blood with a severe wound to her neck.
A further search led officers to Edwards, whose body was found hanging from a tree in the yard, a blue rope around his neck.
Both bodies were removed to the Kingston Public Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Investigators say the couple had a history of conflict and that several reports of arguments and physical violence had previously been filed at the Bull Bay Police Station.
Police sources revealed that following a confrontation on Thursday, they had assisted Blackstock in moving out of the home. However, she reportedly returned on Friday to see her children. Another dispute erupted, culminating in her death and Edwards’ subsequent suicide.
The police continue to investigate the incident and are working with child services to ensure the welfare of the children.
