Bounty Killer’s Sold-out Barclays Arena Concert Ignites Dancehall Fans Globally

Brooklyn, NY: Bounty Killer’s manager Paul ‘Bankey’ Giscombe in a heartfelt confession before his Barclays Arena concert said, “I believed in Rodney when the odds were stacked against him. When our backs were against the wall. I told him he would make it…just believe and leave it to the Creator.”

On Saturday, July 5, 2025, just after 9pm., the Barclays Center exploded in a thunderous celebration of Jamaican pride and dancehall excellence. The occasion? The long-awaited return of dancehall titan Bounty Killer to the performing stage in the U.S. after 15 years away. And just in case you haven’t heard, the Warlord now owns the keys to that prime piece of real estate in New York called Brooklyn, home to nearly a quarter million Jamaicans and their offsprings.

Billed as “Reggae Fest Presents: The Return of Bounty Killer,” the sold-out concert was a cultural moment. It was a victory lap. The Grung Gaadzilla and his backing band Nin9 X Nin9 delivered to the sold-out Barclays Arena, what many are hailing as the most electrifying show of his 40-year career.

Curated by CJ Milan’s Reggae Fest Tour, the show unfolded like a musical time capsule. From classics like “Poor People Fed Up” to high-octane anthems like “Coppershot,” “Kill Fi Fun,” and “Not Another Word,” Killer commanded the stage with an unshakable authority and presence.

The Barclays erupted during signature hits like ‘Fed Up,’ ‘Sufferer,’ ‘Mystery Is The Mystery’ and ‘Eagle & The Hawk’ which served as a vivid reminder of Killer’s unmatched catalog and dancehall dominance.

But the real turning point came when Miss Ivy’s last son called for Dave Kelly’s legendary ‘Bug Riddim’ and launched into “Look Into My Eyes.” The arena roared in unison, with thousands rising to their feet in a moment of raw energy.

Adding to the evening’s power were guest performances by Dexta Daps, I-Octane, Junior Reid, and Elephant Man. Surprise appearances from singer Richie Stephens, Kip Rich, and Charlie Black underscored the collaborative spirit that has always been at the heart of Jamaica’s musical evolution. Bounty and Richie’ enduring friendship—dating back to their 1996 hit “Maniac,” was on full display as they delivered ‘Pot of Gold,’ Stephens’ hit Trying To Get To You and Killer’s adaptation of Tony Rebel’s ‘Fresh Vegetable,’ which served as a heartfelt reminder of the genre’s roots in community and loyalty.

Bounty’s son, Majah Myah, also stepped into the spotlight. Another unforgettable moment came from Mavado, and Aidonia—Killer’s protégés—who held the crowd in rapt attention, delivering hit after hit with energy and conviction.

Masicka brought a fierce, contemporary edge to the show, showcasing how Bounty Killer’s legacy continues to shape the future of dancehall. From start to finish, “The Return of Bounty Killer” felt like a family reunion, not just for the artists but for the fans who grew up with Killer’s voice as the soundtrack to their lives.

As the curtain fell, Bounty Killer didn’t just leave the stage—he left a legacy firmly intact, renewed, and roaring. And he’s not done yet. A solo North American tour is already in the works. The Warlord has returned and dancehall is better for it.
