ST JAMES, Jamaica — Detectives in the St James Police Division have launched an investigation into the murder of Donovan Hayles, a 52-year-old construction worker from Green Pond, St James.
Hayles, also known as “Pepper,” was fatally shot Thursday morning while carrying out repairs at a property on Campbell’s Lane in Mount Salem.
The incident reportedly occurred around 9:30 a.m. when Hayles was working on a step at the residence.
According to law enforcement, a group of armed men approached him and opened fire, hitting him multiple times in the upper body. Hayles succumbed to his injuries on-site.
While the exact motive remains unclear, police are actively working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the brazen attack.
The St James Police Division is appealing to anyone with information to come forward, as authorities seek to apprehend those responsible for the deadly shooting.
