In an early-morning operation Friday, St James police arrested Liko Maxwell, also known as ‘Niko,’ one of the parish’s most wanted men who was recently highlighted in the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s “Wanted Wednesday” campaign.
Maxwell, a resident of Flamstead Garden, St James, was detained during a targeted operation in Garland district, Montego Bay.
Around 3:30 a.m., officers conducted a search at a premises in Garland, where they discovered Maxwell in a bedroom. During the search, police also seized a Girsan Rigard pistol with a magazine loaded with seventeen 9mm rounds. A woman found at the location was also taken into custody.
Superintendent Eron Samuels, commanding officer of the St James Division, commented on the arrest and urged local residents to support police efforts by providing information that could help reduce crime. “We are asking the citizens of St James to just tell us what they know, and pass on the information,” he said, adding that police aim to make the holiday season as crime-free as possible.
