CLARENDON, Jamaica — Police in Clarendon are investigating the suspected suicide of a 42-year-old woman whose body was discovered hanging from a tree in Suttons district, Chapelton, on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Lucian Morgan, a domestic helper from Suttons.
According to police, Morgan was last seen alive at home by her 82-year-old mother at about 7:00 a.m. Monday.
However, around 11:30 a.m., residents who were tending to their animals in a vegetated area near a cemetery made the grim discovery and alerted the police.
Morgan was reportedly found hanging from a tree with a red rope around her neck. She was dressed in a yellow blouse, burgundy tights and black sneakers.
Police said no visible marks of violence were observed on her body.
Morgan was subsequently taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination is to be conducted as investigations continue.
