A ruling in the Clarendon Parish Court has cleared the way for a chef accused of killing his wife and setting their home ablaze to face trial in the Circuit Court.
On Wednesday, the court determined that sufficient evidence exists against Anray Williams to require him to answer to charges of murder and arson. As a result, the matter has been committed to the Clarendon Circuit Court, where trial proceedings are scheduled to begin on April 21.
Williams is accused in connection with the death of his wife, 33-year-old Judian Guthrie-Williams, at their residence in Frankfield. Prosecutors allege that during the early hours of April 8, 2025, the couple became involved in a dispute, during which Williams is said to have used a knife to fatally injure his wife before setting the house on fire.
Both occupants were reportedly removed from the burning building by residents in the area. Emergency services were summoned, and firefighters later extinguished the blaze. After cooling operations, the woman’s body was transported to the morgue pending a post-mortem examination.
Williams later surrendered himself to the police and was subsequently charged. He is being represented by attorney-at-law Odane Marston.
