Oraine Anderson, the 34-year-old chef charged with the December 5, 2023 murder of a man and the shooting and wounding of his mother along lower Market Street in Montego Bay, had his bail extended when he appeared before the St James Parish Court on Thursday.
Anderson, also known as ‘Proper’, represented by Attorney-at-Law Tamika Spencer-Anderson, faces charges of Murder, Wounding With Intent, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony.
Residing in Roehampton district, St James, and Bamboo district, Hopewell, Hanover, Anderson is accused of murdering Wesley Reid of Roehampton and shooting and wounding Reid’s mother.

During Thursday’s hearing, the Court learned that the files were incomplete and a post-mortem examination result was still pending. Consequently, the crown requested a three-week extension, setting the case for May 9.
According to reports by the Barnett Street police, around 11:48 am, Reid and his mother were walking along a city roadway when a man approached, brandishing a handgun and opening fire, hitting them.
The assailant fled on foot, prompting a police response. Reid was pronounced dead at Cornwall Regional Hospital, while his mother received treatment and was admitted.
Investigators identified Anderson through surveillance footage at the scene, leading to his arrest and subsequent charges.
It was also revealed that earlier in 2023, Anderson’s brother was among two other men shot dead in the Roehampton community, suggesting Reid’s murder may have been an act of reprisal.
