St James, Jamaica: Shamoya Green, a 27-year-old from Barrett Hall, St James, accused of throwing her five-month-old daughter, Destiny Brown, off the roof of their home to her death on December 6 last year, is still awaiting a psychiatrist evaluation before her case can proceed.
Scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Thursday, Green was instead admitted to Falmouth Hospital for undisclosed injuries. Presiding Judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton had ordered a psychiatrist evaluation on July 3 but rescheduled the case for May 16.
According to police reports, around 5:35 pm, an argument erupted between Green and her baby’s father over their relationship status. In a fit of rage, Green took the child to the top of their three-story building and threw her to the concrete pavement below.
The baby was rushed to the hospital by her father but succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Following a two-month investigation, Green was charged with her daughter’s murder.
