Jamaica News, St James: The usual flow of traffic along the elegant corridor which stretches from Greenwood to Flankers main road in Montego Bay, St James was disrupted on Thursday morning, February 21, when a trailer truck which was transporting cement from Kingston to Montego Bay, overturned along the roadway.
It is understood that the driver and another occupant of the trailer, received injuries and had to be rushed to hospital where they were treated.
Reports are that about 6:30 a.m., the driver was transporting cement from Kingston to Montego Bay, when the trailer developed mechanical problems on reaching the Greenwood main road.
The driver lost control of the vehicle which overturned and crashed into a ditch on the left side of the road.
The crash resulted in a major traffic jam along that stretch of roadway, but quick actions by the police who were called on the scene resulted in a section of the roadway being cleared up in short order and some normality was restored to the traffic flow.
Our news team also learnt that several looters only managed to steal a limited amount of the cargo, due to the swift response of the police.
