Bustamante Hospital for Children resumed full service

Kingston, Jamaica (McN) – South East Regional Authority (SERHA) has issued a release that the Bustamante Hospital for Children, Kingston has resumed full service.

The Heath Record Clerks have ended their protest and returned to work.

Protest came after an angry parent of patient seriously injured a Record Clerk, leaving damages requiring surgery.

It is alleged that the clerk struck in the face.

The Record Clerks in took industrial action to protest the incident in a strike.

Full service resumption of the hospital, which was only taking emergent cases, came after a series of meeting with the hospital management and union representatives.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Winston De La Haye on Friday met with the Hospital management and union representatives to discuss plans to strengthen the hospital security to protect staff of the hospital.

Bustamante Hospital for Children is the only specialist pediatric hospital in the English-speaking Caribbean.
