Jamaica Crime News, Hanover: The Lucea Police in the parish of Hanover have confirmed that one of the victims who was shot and injured by gunmen while at a motor vehicle scrap yard in Johnson Town community in Lucea on Friday evening, June 15, succumbed to his injuries at hospital on Sunday, June 17, 2018.
The deceased has been identified as, Garth Daley, businessman of Porto Bello in St James, but operates a business in Lucea Hanover. A teenage boy who was also shot and injured in the incident still remains at hospital in critical condition.
Reports by the Lucea Police are that shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Daley left his business place in Lucea and went to visit a friend who operates a motor vehicle scrap yard at another section of Lucea.
Daley was standing among a group of persons in the scrap yard, which includes the teenage boy, when they were ambushed by men armed with handguns.
The armed men opened fire hitting Daley and the teenager to the regions of their upper bodies before escaping in the area. The Lucea Police were summoned and upon arrival, Daley and the boy were rushed to the Noel Holmes Hospital where they were admitted in critical condition.
Daley was later transferred to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he succumbed to injuries on Sunday morning. The Lucea Police are now carrying out investigation surrounding the shooting.
