Bus Conductor Charged in Old Harbour Sexual Assault Case

A bus conductor has been charged in connection with a reported sexual assault that allegedly occurred in Old Harbour, St Catherine, in November 2019, police have confirmed.

The accused has been identified as 50-year-old Shalton Bailey, otherwise known as ‘Owie’, of Mickelton Meadows, Linstead. The charge was announced in a police statement released on Thursday.

Investigators from the Spanish Town Police Division reported that Bailey allegedly met a woman at a bar, where he offered her employment. The woman later accompanied him to a nearby house after he claimed he needed to collect a key.

Police said that once inside the premises, Bailey allegedly locked the woman in and sexually assaulted her.

The incident was later reported to the authorities, prompting an investigation. Bailey was subsequently taken into custody and later charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.

The matter remains before the courts.
