The Burn Foundation of Jamaica is urgently seeking US$55,000 to fund an emergency airlift for a woman who was set ablaze during an incident at a gas station in Westmoreland.
Forty-year-old Dacia Forrester remains in critical condition after reportedly being doused with petrol and ignited during an altercation. She is currently hospitalised with severe burns.
According to the foundation, the funds are needed to cover the cost of an air ambulance to transport Forrester to a specialised burn treatment facility in the United States. A donor has reportedly committed to covering the cost of her medical treatment overseas, but the airlift expense remains outstanding.
Foundation representatives have expressed concern that delays in securing the full amount could jeopardise her chances of receiving timely, lifesaving care.
Police have confirmed that two individuals are in custody in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
The Burn Foundation of Jamaica is encouraging members of the public and the diaspora community to contribute toward the emergency fund to facilitate the urgent transfer.
