St James native Bubbles Gillies is making waves in the dancehall scene with her hardcore lyrics and energetic performances.
The deejay, whose songs include “Nuh Fi Dead,” “Ghetto Rock,” “Boom Boom Boom,” and “Fat Me Fat,” is creating a buzz in Jamaica and among dancehall fans overseas.
Hailing from the Hopeton community in St James, Bubbles is a farmer by profession but began taking music seriously shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic. She subsequently entered the studio and recorded several songs as she pursued her musical ambitions.
Bubbles recently showcased her talent in Kingston, appearing on August 8 at the weekly Original Dancehall Thursday event at Rebel T Headquarters on Dumbarton Avenue.
Her performance, which featured an authentic rub-a-dub style, left fans eager to see her return to the capital.
The deejay is set to continue her musical journey with performances in both Montego Bay and Kingston.
She will perform on August 13 at Moods Night Club on Jimmy Cliff Boulevard in Montego Bay, followed by an appearance on August 19 at the Stone Love Headquarters on Burlington Avenue in Kingston.
With her growing catalogue, hardcore lyrical style and energetic stage presence, Bubbles Gillies is positioning herself as one of the emerging voices to watch in dancehall.
Fans will no doubt be looking forward to seeing what the St James native brings to her upcoming performances.
